The Armed Police Force (APF) Club stormed into the Lumbini Cup International Invitational Women's Football Tournament semi-finals on Monday with a commanding 6-0 win over the Karnali Province Football Association.
Backed by a star-studded lineup featuring nine national team regulars, APF showed their class from the first whistle. The breakthrough came in the 18th minute via an own goal from Karnali's Tina Rawat, who deflected a strike from Sabita Rana Magar into her own net.
From there, it was one-way traffic.
Renuka Nagarkoti, later named 'Player of the Match,' doubled the lead in the 35th minute before Anita KC made it 3-0 just two minutes later. APF came out firing in the second half, with Geeta Rana adding the fourth in the 50th, Rashmi Kumari Ghising making it 5-0 in the 51st, and Sabita putting the finishing touch on the rout in the 55th minute.
APF also debuted former Tribhuvan Army Club goalkeeper Anjana Rana Magar, who started between the posts before being replaced by Sabitri Kishan in the second half.
With this emphatic win, APF joins Nepal Police Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, and Rautahat District FA in the final four. Tuesday's first semi-final pits traditional rivals Nepal Police against Army, while APF faces Rautahat in Wednesday's clash for a place in the final.
The tournament is heating up in Nepalgunj, and with the big guns now squaring off, fans can expect fireworks in the days ahead.
