The Aarambha Sanskar Vidyalaya and the All Nepal Table Tennis Association have introduced a major youth sports programme. The two organisations will host the first Aarambha Cup National Inter-School Table Tennis Championship. They are investing an estimated 500,000 rupees in the event. To watch the country's best young players, attend the matches from 31st Bhadra to 2nd of Ashoj, 2083 BS, at the National Table Tennis Training Centre in Lainchaur. The tournament aims to identify promising players and give them competitive grassroots experience.
The competition includes 10 events. Young athletes will take part in boys' and girls' singles across four age groups: Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, and Under 16. Teams from all regions of Nepal will also send athletes to the boys' and girls' team events. This format ensures close, competitive matches and gives young players the chance to see a variety of playing styles from outside their own districts.
The athletes who win in the individual events will receive 6,000 rupees in cash; runners-up will get 3,000 rupees, and each of the two semifinal losers in every bracket will earn 1,500 rupees. To encourage future participation, the organisers have decided to give third-place finishers the same amount. All athletes who finish in the top three will also receive trophies, medals, and certificates confirming their regional rankings.
The tournament reflects Aarambha Sanskar Vidyalaya's push to get involved in domestic youth sports. The school already offers full scholarships to 16 students actively involved in sports. The team currently consists of five table tennis players, three football players, three basketball players, three taekwondo practitioners, one cricketer, and one badminton player. It pays 100 per cent of the students' educational expenses. The administrators see this new national cup as a direct continuation of their main objective: to spot raw athletic ability and build a solid pathway that combines rigorous education with top-level sporting opportunities.
By organising a fully authorised national tournament, the school offers junior competitors a vital opportunity to prove themselves. This competition may be a first step toward eventual participation in international events. If the players perform well, they may attract the attention of national team selectors. The organisers have promised to ensure these young athletes get the public acclaim their performances deserve.
