Army routs Solo to win Li-Ning title; four teams qualify for HJBL.

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club won the Li-Ning Basketball Tournament on Saturday, beating Solo Basketball Club 108-77 in the final at Dunkmandu, Boudha.

Army won the trophy, but the tournament also acted as the official qualifier for the second season of the Himalayan Java Basketball League (HJBL). By making it to the semi-finals, Army, Solo, Royal Basketball Club, and Playbox Arena have all earned spots in the country's top basketball league.

Nepal Basketball Association (NeBA) President Bhim Singh Gurung said these four teams will join the top four finishers from the first HJBL season: champions Times Basketball Club, runners-up Golden Gate, third-placed Hounds, and fourth-placed Kirtipur. Together, they will make up the eight teams for the new season.

NeBA is preparing to tip off the second season of the HJBL in March. " Totally, but this time we organized a dedicated qualifier," President Gurung said. "We are the first national association in South Asia to organize a qualifying tournament for a major league successfully."

Twelve teams from across Nepal took part in the Li-Ning tournament. The teams included Tribhuvan Army Club, ISA, Tarahara, Royal Basketball Club, BMK, Gandaki, Chanakya Basketball Club, Solo Basketball, Boudha Basketball Club, Playbox Arena, Boudha Pipalbot Club, and Shankardev College.
