Kathmandu: The South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) executive committee has named Nepal's Purushottam Kattel as its new general secretary following the resignation of Anwarul Haque. Haque, who had been at the helm since 2015, stepped down citing personal reasons, paving the way for Kattel to take charge starting April 1. A seasoned football administrator, Kattel brings a wealth of experience, having served as the head of the South Asia unit at the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) for 17 years. His appointment is a strategic move to further develop South Asian football internationally. "I am thrilled to be associated with SAFF as the general secretary. This is both a great opportunity and a challenge for me," Kattel said. "I have been closely following South Asian football since the beginning of my career, and I am eager to contribute to its growth. I am grateful to SAFF President Qazi Salahuddin and the executive committee for their trust in me."
