Kicking off the Nepali New Year with a celebration of fitness, service, and community spirit, the "Veteran Road Race Program-2082" will take place on Baisakh 1 at 7 a.m. in Kakarvitta, Mechinagar-6, Jhapa. The event, organized by Kakarvitta Veteran Football Club, is being held to mark the 41st birthday of renowned social worker Bimala Tamang under the uplifting theme: "Contribution to Sports and Service, Respect for Veterans at Every Step."
The race will begin at the Kakarvitta Sports Ground and span a 4-kilometer route from Satighatta to the Kakadbhitta playground. The Honorable Gopal Tamang, a Member of the Provincial Assembly, will be present as Chief Guest to inaugurate the event.
The top three finishers will be rewarded with attractive cash prizes—Rs 30,000 for first place, Rs 20,000 for second, and Rs 10,000 for third—in addition to medals and certificates. Furthermore, seven participants will receive consolation prizes of Rs 1,000 each. Bimala Tamang has fully sponsored the total prize money, reflecting her continued commitment to promoting sports and social service in the region.
Open exclusively to participants aged 40 and above, the race requires runners to wear a sports dress code. While first aid will be available on-site, organizers have clarified that participants are responsible for their safety beyond initial medical support.
The event promises to be not only a competitive race but also a celebration of experience, community spirit, and a healthy lifestyle.
