Kathmandu — Church Boys United announced their arrival in the ANFA Women's League Qualifiers with a thumping 6–0 victory over FC Reale on Monday, while New Road Team (NRT) staged a dramatic second-half comeback to defeat Nepal Sports Club 3–1 at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato.
Church Boys made a statement of intent in their opening fixture, piling misery on FC Reale, who remain winless after two matches. Sujata Phalungwa and Ashika Thapa led the charge with a brace each, while Manisha Tumrok and Barsha Oli also found the net in a one-sided contest.
It took just six minutes for Church Boys to break the deadlock, with Sujata slotting home the opener. Ashika doubled the advantage in the 16th minute, before Sujata struck again in the 22nd to make it 3–0. Manisha extended the lead in the 31st minute, and Ashika completed her double just before half-time to put her side five goals up. Barsha capped off the rout with a 68th-minute strike to seal three comfortable points.
In the second match of the day, NRT overcame a nervy start to secure a 3–1 win over Nepal Sports Club. The defeat leaves Nepal Sports still searching for their first points after back-to-back losses, having earlier fallen 1–0 to Sankata Club. Nepal Sports grabbed the lead in the 52nd minute through Yashoda Kumari Chiral, but NRT responded with spirit. Sajina Syangtan levelled the score in the 72nd minute before Pratikshya Thakuri turned the match on its head with an 81st-minute strike. Three minutes later, Sangeeta Kumari Malla added a third to complete the turnaround and secure maximum points for NRT. With their emphatic opening wins, both Church Boys United and NRT have positioned themselves as early contenders in the qualifiers, while FC Reale and Nepal Sports Club are left under pressure, still chasing their first points of the campaign.
