BIRTAMOD, JHAPA—Kathmandu's Planning Boys delivered a masterclass performance to secure their spot in the semi-finals of the 8th Nawa Jyoti Challenge Cup. Today, they defeated India's Manebhanjyang FC with a 4-0 victory in the quarter-finals. The match, held at Jaipur Buddhashanti in Jhapa, showcased the Planning Boys' attacking prowess and defensive solidity as they outclassed their opponents from start to finish.
The game got off to a dream start for Planning Boys as Rajesh Shah found the back of the net in the first minute, setting the tone for the rest of the match. Pratap Rai doubled the lead in the 17th minute with a clinical finish, further demoralizing the Manebhanjyang side. The second half saw no respite for the visitors, as Saroj Karki extended the lead to 3-0 in the 54th minute, followed by Arjun Rana Magar sealing the victory with a goal in the 65th minute.
Pratap Rai, who played a pivotal role in the win, was named the Player of the Match. He was awarded Rs. 7,000 in cash and a trophy for his standout performance.
The Planning Boys' relentless pressure and tactical discipline ensured Manebhanjyang FC had no room to breathe. They dominated possession and created numerous scoring opportunities throughout the game.
