Birtamod, Jhapa – Arjundhara Municipality delivered a dominant performance to secure a spot in the quarterfinals of the first Inter-Municipal Women's Football Competition, thrashing Damak Municipality 7-0 at the Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium on Sunday.
Striker Jennifer Magar was the show's star, netting an incredible five goals, while Menuka Magar added two more to seal the emphatic victory. Arjundhara set the tone early, racing to a 6-0 lead by halftime, leaving Damak struggling to keep pace.
Jennifer completed her hat-trick within the opening 17 minutes, scoring in the 3rd, 7th, and 17th minutes. She added two more in the 26th and 58th minutes to cap off a sensational individual display. Meanwhile, Menuka found the net in the 20th and 22nd minutes, further widening the gap.
For her stellar performance, Jennifer was named Player of the Match and received a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
The tournament continues on Monday, with hosts Birtamod Municipality set to take on Kankai Municipality in the first quarterfinal matchup. The grand finale, scheduled for Falgun 5, promises high stakes. The champions will claim Rs 300,000 along with a prestigious trophy, while the runners-up will receive Rs 150,000.
