Pokhara – Three Star Club held their nerve in a dramatic penalty shootout to secure a 4-2 victory over Machhindra Football Club, sealing their place in the semi-finals of the Pokhara Gold Cup on Sunday.
In a tense quarter-final clash at Pokhara Stadium, neither side could break the deadlock, as 90 minutes of regulation time and an additional 30 minutes of extra time ended goalless, forcing the contest into a high-stakes shootout.
Three Star proved clinical from the spot, with Dipesh Ghale, Fode Fofana, Biraj Maharjan, and Laxman Ruchal all converting their penalties. Machhindra's Diwakar Chaudhary and Sanish Shrestha managed to find the net, but Bishal Ghalan struck the crossbar, and Aditya Shakya's effort was saved brilliantly by goalkeeper Salin GC, handing Three Star the win.
With the victory, Three Star advances to the semi-finals, where they will face the winner of the highly anticipated showdown between Thunderbolt North United Club and Black Bulls FC.
