Birtamod, Jhapa – The highly anticipated Hari Kumar Prasai Inter-School Under-13 District Level Knockout Football Tournament commenced today at the Everest Smart Education Foundation, Birtamod-6. The tournament, organized in memory of the founder, the late Hari Kumar Prasai, was officially inaugurated by Birtamod Municipality Mayor and chief guest Pabitra Mahatara Prasai. The competition, which began on Magh 28, will culminate with the grand final on Falgun 6, as confirmed by tournament organizer and Everest Smart Education Foundation Principal Anup Sharma. The opening ceremony, chaired by Principal Anup Sharma, featured a welcome address from the school's Secondary In-charge, Tejendra Koirala. Mayor Prasai and District Sports Development Committee Jhapa Chairman Bheshraj Bhandari (Prashant) extended best wishes. Devendra Humagai, Principal of Newton School, shared the idea and vision of the event. The program was graced by distinguished guests, including Surya Prasad Kandangwa, Ward President of Birtamod-6, Kedar Giri, President of Jhapa Gold Cup, Vice President Gajendra Bahadur Poudel, General Secretary Buddha Tamang, Acting President of the School Management Committee Devi Giri, Senior Vice President of PABSON Jhapa Harikrishna Pathak, and Acting President of Hisan Uttam Khanal, among others. Conducted by teacher Sabitra Bhattarai, the inaugural match saw tournament hosts Everest Smart Education Foundation dominate Bells Model School with a resounding 7-1 victory. Sairuz Devkota was adjudged as player of the game for his prolific play. Tomorrow's fixtures will feature clashes between Newtons and Devkul, followed by Greenfield taking on Children. With 16 schools vying for the championship, the tournament promises intense competition and exciting football action in the days to come.
