KATHMANDU: New Road Team (NRT) earned an important win, and Laligurans Association kept up their strong form as National League matches continued across the valley on Monday.
NRT bounced back from their opening-day loss by beating Satdobato Youth Club 3-1 at Dasharath Stadium. Laligurans Association stayed unbeaten, winning 4-1 against Nawa Janajagriti Youth Club at the ANFA Complex.
NRT Bounces Back at Tripureshwor
After losing 1-0 to Machhindra FC in their first match, NRT looked to improve at Dasharath Stadium and quickly took control.
Bigyan Khadka scored in the 7th minute to give NRT an early lead. Timothy Okereke made it 2-0 in the 17th minute. Satdobato Youth Club tried to respond, and Fode Fofana scored in the 32nd minute to make it 2-1 at halftime.
NRT kept their lead in the second half. Khadka scored again in stoppage time (90+3’), sealing a 3-1 win and earning NRT their first points of the season. In another match, Laligurans Association, who qualified through the ANFA President's Cup, showed that their opening win over A-Division side Jawalakhel Youth Club was no accident.
Playing against fellow President's Cup qualifiers Nawa Janajagriti Youth Club at the ANFA Complex, Laligurans took the lead in the 27th minute with a goal from Abdul Yusuf and went into halftime up 1-0.
In the second half, Ashish Gurung scored twice, in the 55th and 60th minutes, to make it 3-0. Akoity Junior added a fourth goal in the last minute of regular time. Umesh Sanjel managed to score a consolation goal for Nawa Janajagriti in the first minute of injury time, but the team suffered a second consecutive defeat, having previously lost 2-1 to Chitlang FC.
LaliguransLaligurans have started the league with two straight wins and are already looking like strong contenders this season.
