ANFA National League: Machhindra FC Defeats Manang to Extend Winning Streak

KATHMANDU: Machhindra Football Club continued their strong start in the ANFA National League on Monday, beating Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) 2–1 at Dasharath Stadium.

This win is Machhindra’s second in a row, helping them build early momentum. Meanwhile, the loss adds more pressure on Manang, who are still struggling this season.

In the main match at Tripureshwor, Machhindra showed strong tactics to beat MMC. Sanish Shrestha and Jonathan Zorilla scored the goals that gave the White Lions all three points. After losing 5–0 to Tribhuvan Army Club in their first match, Manang Marsyangdi showed some fight. Bishesh Lama scored in first-half injury time to tie the game, giving the eight-time A division league champions some hope. But Machhindra held on to win 2–1. This victory follows Machhindra’s narrow 1–0 win over New Road Team (NRT) in their opening fixture. For Manang, back-to-back defeats—conceding seven goals in two games—signal early alarm bells for the season.

Other matches were also played in the league on Monday, in addition to the main game at Dasharath Stadium.

  • In the First match at Dasharath Stadium, New Road Team (NRT) bounced back from their first loss and beat Satdobato Youth Club 3–1.
  • Earlier at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, Laligurans played well in attack and won 4–1 against Nawa Jana Jagriti Club.
