National League Shake-Up: APF, NRT Level at Top as Church Boys Roar Back With First Win

KATHMANDU It was a decisive Sunday in the ANFA National League. Nepal APF Club and New Road Team (NRT) kept up their momentum with crucial victories. They are now tied for the top spot. Meanwhile, defending champions Church Boys United finally announced their arrival in the campaign. They delivered a dominant display at the Dasharath Stadium.

The title chase intensified across two venues, with three teams now deadlocked at nine points each.

Church Boys United Break the Deadlock

In the final fixture under Dasharath Stadium’s floodlights, Church Boys United clinched their first win of the season, dispatching Jawalakhel Youth Club 3-0.

After a sluggish start with one loss and one draw, Church Boys came alive in the second half. Abayomi Oluwaseun Fakunle broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute. His strike opened the floodgates.

Riding the momentum, Church Boys struck twice more in a 15-minute window. Fakunle completed his brace, and Milan Rai added a third to seal a commanding performance. For Jawalakhel, this was a second defeat in three games. They are still searching for consistency.

APF Club Remains Unbeaten

Earlier at Dasharath Stadium, Nepal APF Club preserved their unbeaten run, grinding out a 2-1 win over Sankata Club.

The departmental side looked sharp in attack, with Pradip Lama and Yubaraj Khatri both finding the back of the net to give APF a comfortable cushion. However, the closing stages became tense when Ganesh Hamal pulled a goal back for Sankata with nine minutes remaining on the clock. Despite the late pressure, APF’s defense held firm to secure all three points.

NRT’s Winning Streak Continues

At the ANFA Complex in Satdobato, New Road Team (NRT) made it three wins in a row. They edged past Friends Club 1-0 in a tightly contested match.

Ashish Gurung scored the lone goal in the 67th minute. His decisive strike was enough to sink a resilient Friends Club side.

The victory has significant implications for the league standings. NRT has now drawn level on points with APF Club , Laligurans Youth Club, and Machhindra FC, with all four sides sitting on 9 points. However, NRT has played one game more than its rivals. Friends Club, suffering their second defeat, remains stuck on four points.

The action keeps rolling on Monday with an unmissable doubleheader at the ANFA Complex in Satdobato:

11:00 AM: Manang Marsyangdi Club vs. Kankrebihar Club.
