New Horizon Migrational and Education Pvt. Ltd. defeated Tirupati HR Solution six goals to zero on Sunday to win the first Japanese Education Group Futsal Tournament. The match took place at the Kapan Sports Centre in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu. New Horizon dominated the final match and won the championship without conceding a single goal.
Sudeep Limbu led the New Horizon attack. He scored three goals against the Tirupati defence to register a hat trick. Tika Magar and Anmol Rai scored additional goals to finalise the victory. The performance earned New Horizon a cash prize of 100,000 Rupees and the championship trophy. Tirupati received 75,000 Rupees and a trophy for finishing in second place.
Ten teams entered the one-day competition organised by the Japanese Education Group, an institution providing Japanese language study and consulting services. Organisers divided the participating squads into two groups. The teams played a league format before the top qualifiers advanced to the knockout rounds.
In the first semifinal match, New Horizon defeated Yukiguni Educational Consultancy by a score of six to three. The match pushed New Horizon's defence hard, but their offence scored enough to advance. Tirupati qualified for the final match by beating Lomas Educational four to two in the second semifinal.
Yukiguni recovered quickly in the playoff match for third place. They defeated Lomas Abroad Study six to zero to claim the 50,000 Rupee cash prize.
Individual brilliance stood out alongside the team performances. New Horizon goalkeeper Anmol Rai won the Best Goalkeeper award. He made crucial saves throughout the day, preventing the opposing teams from scoring. Tirupati player Nikhil Dhungana earned the Best Player trophy for his overall performance on the court, earning recognition despite losing in the final match. Japanese Education Group coordinator Rup Singh Tamang presented the individual awards and trophies to the players during the closing ceremony.
Tamang addressed the participants and spectators after the final match. He stated his organisation will continue hosting sports competitions. He wants to encourage athletic participation and help develop healthy citizens. Taekwondo Olympian and four-time South Asian Games gold medalist Deepak Bista inaugurated the event earlier in the morning.
The tournament gave educational consultancies a strict competitive platform outside their usual office environments.
