Birtamod, Jhapa – Arjundhara Municipality delivered a stunning performance to secure a place in the semi-finals of the first inter-municipal women's football tournament, recording an emphatic 16-0 victory over Jhapa Rural Municipality in the second quarter-final match held at Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium, Birtamod-3.
With this dominant win, Arjundhara has firmly established itself as a top contender for the championship title.
Jennifer Magar was the standout performer, netting five goals, while Menuka Magar contributed with a hat-trick. Jennifer opened the scoring in the 6th minute and completed her hat-trick by the 40th minute, with additional strikes in the 13th, 38th, and 46th minutes. Notably, she had also scored five goals in Arjundhara's first match against Damak Municipality, cementing her place among the tournament's top scorers.
Menuka Magar's hat-trick came through goals in the 11th, 35th, and 55th minutes, while Kusum Khatiwada, Manjali Kumari Yonjan, and Manjila Yonghang added to the tally. Kusum found the net in the 17th and 19th minutes, Manjali in the 34th and 36th minutes, and Manjila in the 42nd and 52nd minutes. Renu Limbu also got on the scoresheet in the 45th minute, with one goal coming as an own goal from the opposition.
Kusum Khatiwada was named Player of the Match for her stellar performance, which included a brace and 9 assists. She was awarded a cash prize of Rs 5,000.
The tournament action continues tomorrow as Kamal Rural Municipality takes on Mechinagar Municipality in the third quarter-final match. The final, scheduled for Falgun 5, will see the champions take home Rs 300,000 and an attractive trophy, while the runners-up will receive Rs 150,000 in cash.
