Birtamod – Mechinagar Municipality has secured a spot in the first Inter-Municipal Women's Football Tournament semi-finals in Birtamod with a commanding 3-0 victory over Kamal Rural Municipality.
In the third quarter-final clash at Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium on Wednesday, Mechinagar took early control, netting two goals in the first half before sealing the win with another in the second. Barsha Oli opened the scoring in the 12th minute and doubled her tally in the 25th, giving her team a comfortable lead at halftime. Substitute player Nayan Rai added the finishing touch in the 51st minute, ensuring Mechinagar's place in the final four. Earlier, Mechinagar Rojina missed the target twice.
With a standout performance, Barsha Oli was named Player of the Match, earning a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 5,000 for her brace.
The tournament continues on Thursday, with Shivasatakshi Municipality set to take on Bhadrapur Municipality in the last quarter-final.
The championship final, scheduled for Falgun 5, promises high stakes. The winner will claim an impressive Rs 3 lakh along with the tournament trophy, while the runner-up will receive Rs 150,000. The competition is organized by the Birtamod Municipal Sports Development Committee.
