Sudurpaschim Crushes Koshi Province in Dominant PM Cup Display

BIRGUNJ – Sudurpaschim Province strengthened their position in the Prime Minister Cup today, beating Koshi Province by seven wickets at the Narayani Cricket Ground. While Hemant Dhami’s strong opening spell and Khadka Bohora’s precise half-century helped Sudurpaschim chase a modest target with ease, Koshi Province showed resilience throughout the match. From the outset, Sudurpaschim controlled the game, but Koshi made efforts to challenge the opposition.

Dhami’s Opening Burst Rips Through Koshi

As the first innings began, Sudurpaschim’s pace attack set the tone early. Hemant Dhami led the way, taking 4 wickets for 26 runs from 9 overs, including 3 maidens. However, despite struggling against his disciplined bowling and averaging just under 3 runs per over during his spell, Koshi’s top order showed resilience in their defensive play.

With the early wickets lost, Koshi Province faced a tough challenge. Subas Bajgain scored 25 runs, and Suman Shrestha added 24, attempting to build a partnership. However, despite their efforts and with limited support from the rest of the team, Koshi Province was bowled out for 130 runs in 43.4 overs, losing all ten wickets.

Bohora Anchors the Chase

Though Sudurpaschim lost openers Abhishek Pal (7 runs) and Prakash Pandey (15) early, leaving the score at 29 for 2, Khadka Bohora then took charge. He joined Kiran Thagunna for an important 83-run partnership for the third wicket, pushing Sudurpaschim to 112 for 3 and effectively ending any chance of a Koshi comeback.

Bohora continued his aggressive batting, scoring 66 runs from 45 balls with nine boundaries and three sixes. As a result, Sudurpaschim reached the target in just 19.5 overs and won the match comfortably.

The Standings

This win marks Sudurpaschim’s second victory in three matches, bringing their total to four points out of a possible six and giving them a strong chance to advance to the knockout stages. Conversely, Koshi Province has lost all four of their matches and now faces elimination.
