SANYA, China – Nepal’s national kabaddi team reached the semifinals of the 6th Asian Beach Games 2026 with a perfect record. They finished the group stage unbeaten after a hard-fought 38-36 win over Bangladesh on Sunday. This victory confirms Nepal as the top team in Group B. It also sets up an exciting knockout match against their regional rivals, Sri Lanka.
Nepal took an early lead and led 19-17 at halftime. Bangladesh surged in the final minutes, but Nepal’s defence held for a two-point win, reflecting their tournament-long composure.
Nepal dominated Group B from the start, opening with a 48–32 win over Chinese Taipei. They then beat Thailand 49-33 and had established themselves as the team to watch before facing Bangladesh, thanks to powerful attacks and solid defence.
Now, Nepal moves on to the semifinals to face a strong Sri Lankan team. This match is important in South Asian sports. Nepal’s strength lies in its quick transitions and aggressive attacking plays, while Sri Lanka is recognised for disciplined defence and a precise, technical approach. Nepal has momentum from their unbeaten run. Still, with the pressure of the Beach Games, any mistake could end their hopes for gold.
