The 125th board meeting of the National Sports Council (NSC) Nepal has officially approved the dates for the 10th National Games, which will take place from Mangsir 16 to Mangsir 29 (December 2–15) in Karnali Province.
Chaired by Education and Sports Minister Sashmit Pokharel, the meeting resolved the uncertainty regarding the event. Board members unanimously approved the proposed timeframe from Rabindra Chand, Member Secretary of the Karnali Province Sports Development Council, and designated Surkhet as the central hub for the games.
Previous government and political instability delayed the prestigious event for two years, even though the necessary infrastructure was ready in the host province. This decision provides a clear deadline for provincial sports authorities to finalise their teams.
In addition to confirming the tournament schedule, the NSC board addressed governance challenges in the domestic sports sector. The board also discussed preparations for the 20th Asian Games and reviewed ongoing disputes involving the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).
Establishing a firm schedule helps restore consistency to Nepal's domestic sports calendar and provides athletes with a clear opportunity to compete at the national level.
