Bhadrapur, Feb 28– Host team Bhadrapur Blazers triumphed in the Saurya Air Om Sai Pathibhara Hospital Bhadrapur Jhapa Gold Cup, Gambhir Rai Memorial edition, defeating Jhapa 11 FC 2-0 in the final at Mechi Stadium on Friday.
Fueled by home support, the Blazers lifted the coveted title and bagged a cash prize of Rs. 1.3 million, along with a trophy, medals, and certificates. Meanwhile, runners-up Jhapa 11 settled for Rs. 700,000 in prize money.
Blazers Seal Victory with Chapagain & Sharma's Brilliance
The intense final saw Bhadrapur captain Ashish Chapagain open the scoring in the 30th minute, capitalizing on a precise Milan Rai assist inside the penalty box. The game remained tightly contested, but in injury time, Satyam Sharma sealed the win with a stunning 25-yard strike, sending the home crowd into raptures.
With Rohan Karki and Samir Tamang coming close, Jhapa 11 had their share of chances, but the woodwork denied them an equalizer. Jhapa goalkeeper Sandeep Limbualso made crucial saves, notably stopping Kuldeep Karki's long-range effort in the 40th minute.
