Jhapa, March 4 – The much-anticipated Indo-Nepal T20 Knockout Cricket Tournament will begin tomorrow in Bahundangi, Mechinagar-4, Jhapa. The Bahundangi Youth Club will organise the tournament at the Saraswati Secondary School ground, featuring a competitive lineup of 12 teams from Nepal and India.
At a press conference held at the Mechinagar Press Club in Itabhatta, the organisers confirmed that two teams from India and ten from Nepal will compete for the championship. The event is being hosted with the patronage of Ward No. 4 Office and is sponsored by the Small Farmers Agricultural Cooperative Society.
Tournament coordinator and club member Prabin Bhandari shared details of the prize pool. The champions will receive NPR 50,000, a trophy, and certificates, while the runner-up will take home NPR 30,000, a trophy, medals, and certificates. Additionally, top individual performers will be recognised, with awards for Man of the Match, Man of the Series, and Best Player of the Tournament.
The tournament, running from March 5 to Chaitra 4, will be inaugurated by Arjun Kumar Karki, Ward Chairman of Mechinagar-4, who will also be the chief guest at the opening match.
Established in 2040 BS, the Bahundangi Youth Club has actively engaged in social and sports initiatives. According to the organisers, the primary objective of the competition is to support the development of a dedicated cricket academy in the region.
With a blend of emerging and seasoned cricketers taking centre stage, the Indo-Nepal T20 Knockout promises to be a thrilling contest, further strengthening the cricketing ties between the two neighbouring nations.
