KATHMANDU — Nepal's national women's cricket team have sealed the T20I series against hosts Malaysia, emerging victorious in the fifth and deciding match by five wickets at the Bayuemas Oval on Wednesday. With this win, Nepal claimed the five-match series 3–2, bouncing back impressively after Malaysia had earlier taken the lead with narrow wins of 13 and 3 runs. Nepal, on the other hand, secured all three of their victories convincingly, each by comfortable margins, including two earlier six-wicket wins. Chasing a target of 104 runs, Nepal reached the mark in 18 overs, losing five wickets along the way. Ruby Poddar led the chase with a composed 26 runs, supported by Pooja Mahato's 23. Skipper Rubina Chhetri remained unbeaten on 15, while Samjhana Khadka added 13 runs to ensure Nepal's triumph.
For Malaysia, Ain Hamiza Hashim, Nur Dania Syuhada, Aisa Elisa Firdauz, and Nur Alya each claimed one wicket. Earlier, after winning the toss and opting to bat, Malaysia posted 103/7 in their allotted 20 overs. Winifred Duraisingam top-scored with 40 runs, while Mahira Izzati Ismail made 19, Ain Hamiza Hashim added 15, and Nur Dania Syuhada contributed 11. Nepal's bowlers put up an excellent collective performance, with Kabita Kunwar and Rajmati Airee both picking up three wickets each, while Rachana Chaudhary chipped in with one. This victory marks a strong finish for Nepal's women's team, underlining their growing consistency and resilience on foreign soil.
