Nepal U-19 Women’s Volleyball Team Set to Depart for CAVA Championship in Sri Lanka

KATHMANDU — The Nepali U-19 women’s volleyball team is set to leave for Sri Lanka on Sunday to take part in the upcoming Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Women’s U-19 Championship, scheduled from November 4 to 9 (Kartik 18–23). The team was formally bid farewell today at an event organised by the Nepal Volleyball Association (NVA), where the newly appointed Minister for Youth and Sports, Bablu Gupta, extended his best wishes to the players and coaching staff ahead of their international campaign. The championship will feature four participating nations, including Nepal, and promises competitive fixtures among emerging volleyball talents in the region.

Head coach Kumar Rai, who guided the U-20 team to a bronze medal finish in last year’s CAVA Women’s U-20 Championship, expressed optimism about the team’s preparation and potential. “This year, we’ve had a much longer and more focused training period compared to previous editions. The players have shown great improvement, and we are aiming for a strong result,” Rai said. Team captain Jenisha Bishwakarma also expressed her confidence, stating that the team is motivated to achieve a better outcome than last year. “We’ve trained hard for over a month and a half. Our goal is to make Nepal proud with an improved performance,” she remarked. During the farewell ceremony, Minister Gupta also announced that discussions are underway to allocate the Scout premises in Lainchaur for the construction of a covered volleyball hall, a much-needed infrastructure project for the development of the sport in Nepal. With renewed energy, extended preparation, and national pride at stake, the young Nepali squad now sets its sights on making a strong mark at the continental stage in Sri Lanka.
