Pokhara Ninjas registered their first victory of the Everest Women’s Volleyball League (EWVL) on Wednesday, defeating Lalitpur Queens in straight sets (3–0) at the National Sports Council Covered Hall, Tripureshwor. With the much-needed win, Pokhara climbed to third place in the standings, collecting four points from four matches. Lalitpur, who suffered their first defeat of the season, remain in second place with nine points from an equal number of games.
The Ninjas displayed commanding form throughout the match, taking the sets 25–22, 25–13, and 25–20. Their cohesive defence and sharp attacks kept Lalitpur on the back foot from start to finish. Earlier in the day, defending champions Karnali Yashwis also secured a convincing 3–0 victory over Madhesh United, dominating the game with scores of 25–15, 25–12, and 25–17.
The second edition of the EWVL was initially scheduled to be held in Pokhara’s Multipurpose Covered Hall from September 5 to 12 (Bhadra 20–28). However, the tournament was suspended indefinitely due to the Gen Z movement protests on Bhadra 23–24. According to the revised schedule, the league resumed on Wednesday and will now run until Kartik 29.
