Swiss Strategist Guglielmo Arena Handed Reins of Nepal National Team

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) appointed Swiss coach Guglielmo Arena as head coach of the Men’s National Team. ANFA formalised his appointment at the Complex in Satdobato. General Secretary Kiran Rai presented the official letter. Arena has replaced Australian coach Matt Ross and now leads the team in strengthening its international performance.

Arena, 52, has coached clubs on four continents. In 2011, he led Etoile FC in Singapore to recognition. In 2012, he managed CR Belouizdad in Algeria. Over the past decade, he led Buildcon FC in Zambia, FC Chiasso in Switzerland, and RC Oued Zem in Morocco. In 2023, he served as the interim head coach of the Laos U-23 national team, gaining recent experience in Asian football.

Arena starts his tenure on March 26 (Chaitra 12). Nepal hosts Hong Kong (China) in a friendly at Dasharath Stadium. This match immediately tests his tactics. The Nepalese football community wants to see if Arena's experience brings the discipline and effectiveness needed to advance the team.
