Birtamod, Jhapa – Kankai Municipality emerged victorious in the inaugural Inter-Municipal Women's Football Tournament, organized by the Birtamod Municipal Sports Development Committee. In a commanding performance at Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium, Kankai secured the championship by defeating Arjundhara Municipality with a 3-0 scoreline in the final.
Match Highlights
Kankai's triumph was spearheaded by Simran Rai and Purnima Rai, who delivered stellar performances in front of goal. Simran Rai opened the scoring within the 7th minute, giving Kankai an early lead. The dominance continued in the second half, as Purnima Rai doubled the advantage in the 53rd minute. Just seven minutes later, Simran Rai netted her second and the team's third goal, sealing a resounding victory.
Individual Honors & Prize Distribution
Kankai's Purnima Rai, who found the net in the final, was awarded Rs. 5,000 in cash. Other standout performers from the winning team included Sushila Chaudhary (Best Goalkeeper), Captain Khusma Rai (Best Defender), and Simran Rai (Best Midfielder)—each receiving Rs. 7,000 for their efforts.
Arjundhara's Jennifer Rana Magar was named Best Player of the tournament, earning Rs. 15,000. Additionally, she secured the Top Scorer title, receiving an extra Rs. 7,000, a trophy, and Rs. 2,500 from football enthusiasts. As a special reward, she was also presented with an Apple Watch.
From the runner-up side, Kusum Khatiwada earned Rs. 7,000 as the tournament's Best Forward.

Champions Kankai Municipality: Rs. 300,000, a prestigious trophy, and the title.
Runners-up Arjundhara Municipality: Rs. 150,000 and a trophy.

Birtamod Municipality Mayor Pabitra Mahattara Prasai, Arjundhara Municipality Mayor Baldev Singh Gomden, Kankai Municipality Mayor Rajendra Pokharel, Birtamod Deputy Mayor Nagendra Prasad Sangraula, Jhapa District Sports Development Committee Chairman Bheshraj Bhandari, and Birtamod Municipal Sports Development Committee Chairman Bikash Giri honoured the title-winning and runner-up teams.
