Nepal’s campaign at the CAVA Men’s Volleyball Championship suffered another blow on Sunday, as they squandered a 2–1 lead and fell to Bangladesh in five sets.
The 3–2 defeat (25–18, 19–25, 25–21, 23–25, 11–15) inside Islamabad’s Liaquat Gymnasium leaves the Nepali side reeling from four straight losses and puts their semifinal qualification hopes on the brink of mathematical extinction. Nepal opened with authority, overpowering the Bangladeshi block to take the first set 25–18. Their attacking rhythm faded in the second as Bangladesh adjusted defensively and struck back 25–19. Nepal then regained control in the third, carving out a 25–21 win to stand one frame away from their first victory of the tournament.
That final step proved elusive. Bangladesh refused to yield, tightening their service pressure and digging out decisive rallies in a tense fourth set to pull out a narrow 25–23 victory and force a tiebreaker. Carrying that momentum into the decisive fifth set, Bangladesh pounced on unforced errors, surged ahead early, and shut the door 15–11. For Nepal, the loss leaves a bleak tournament picture: four straight defeats, three of them close, and their semifinal hopes effectively over.
