Cristiano Ronaldo hit another landmark on Friday with his 982nd career goal as Al-Nassr secured victory over Al-Faisaly. The win sees Ange Postecoglou's side level with Al-Qadsiah at the top of the Saudi Pro League table.
The visitors got off to a quick start, opening the scoring in four minutes. Abdullah Al-Hamdan curled a well-struck right-footed shot from the edge of the box into the bottom right corner for Al-Nassr.
Al-Nassr doubled their cushion three minutes after the interval. João Félix delivered a lovely free-kick, and Ronaldo headed it home with his trademark aerial finish, leaving the keeper with no chance. Ronaldo thought he'd just passed 983 in his career, but VAR ruled the second effort offside.
Substitute Theo Bongonda briefly re-energised Al-Faisaly's hopes with a close-range header to reduce the deficit. Postecoglou's side, though, saw the game effectively over 11 minutes from time. Ronaldo dinked a nice pass to Al-Hamdan, who collected it calmly and then played it into Angelo for a quiet first-time finish to seal all three points.
The win shifts pressure back onto Al-Qadsiah, who remain top of the table on goal difference with a game in hand, ahead of their big clash with Al-Hilal.
