The highly anticipated fifth edition of the Mechinagar Gold Cup is set to commence. In the opening match, Kakarvitta Football Training Center hosts will face Georgian FC, the Indian side. The clash is scheduled for Falgun 24 at 2 Chaitra at the Kakadvitta Sports Ground.
The tournament heats up on Falgun 25, with top-flight side Church Boys United facing Nepal Super League (NSL) outfit Jhapa FC. The international flavour will continue on Falgun 26 as Uzbekistan's Black Bulls FC take on Dharan FC. The Black Bulls were invited to the tournament after Indian club Global FC pulled out, organizers confirmed. The next day, Machhindra Football Club, one of Nepal's most decorated clubs, will battle departmental giants Nepal APF Football Club in what promises to be a thrilling encounter.
The semi-finals are scheduled for Falgun 28 and 29, while the grand finale will be on Chaitra 2.
Lucrative Prize Pool on Offer
The champion of this year's Mechinagar Gold Cup will receive Rs 10 lakh in cash, while the runner-up will receive Rs 5 lakh.
