Kathmandu — Chaahari Youth Club made a statement to start their ANFA National Women's League Qualifiers, defeating FC Real Club 3–0 in Thursday's opening match at the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) Headquarters ground in Satdobato.
Playing under heavy rain in Group A, Chaahari seized early control, scoring twice in the first half before adding a third after the break. The match was temporarily halted for 30 minutes due to the downpour, and with just two minutes left on the clock, referee Anjana Rai called an early end to proceedings.
The victory gives Chaahari a crucial three points to kick off their campaign.
In the day's other fixture, Sankata Club battled to a narrow 1–0 win over Nepal Khelkud Club in a rain-affected contest at the same venue. Midfielder Yashoda Shahi proved the difference, netting the only goal of the match in the 60th minute to secure Sankata's opening three points.
The qualifiers feature 14 teams split into two groups, competing in a single round-robin format. The top two from each group will advance directly to the National Women's League, while the third-placed teams from each group will face off for the final qualification spot.
