Birtamod-The Host Birtamod Municipality has made a great start to the first inter-municipal women's football tournament in Birtamod, Jhapa, starting today.
In the inaugural match held at the Domalal Rajbanshi Stadium in Birtamod, Birtamod defeated the neighbouring municipality, Buddhashanti Rural Municipality, by a one-sided score of 5-0.
In the Birtamod match, which created constant pressure, Sunakala Rai scored four goals, one of which was in Ansrina Angbuhang's name.
Sunakala Rai scored Birtamod's first goal in the 10th minute of the game. She completed her hat-trick by scoring in the 17th and 19th minutes and another goal in injury time.
Similarly, Ansrina scored a goal in the 15th minute of the game. Birtamod had experienced players like Leela Joshi, Hima Rawat, Roshni Bohora Chhetri, and Sunakala Rai. Sunkala received Rs 5,000 as the Player of the Match, and Birtamod Deputy Mayor Nagendra Prasad Sangraula gave her an additional Rs 3,000 for her excellent performance.
Tomorrow (Sunday), Arjundhara Municipality and Damak Municipality will play a match. The winner of the final game, which will be held on Falgun 5, will receive an attractive trophy and Rs 300,000 in cash. Similarly, the runner-up will have to settle for Rs 150,000 in cash.
The competition was inaugurated under the chairmanship of Committee Chairman Bikash Giri and under the chief guestship of Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire.
